For the past 3 years Placi worked as Bicester Vision Partnership Manager, a private and public partnership that works to support and encourage the economic led growth of Bicester, engaging at the same with the community and education establishment.
Previously Placi was Portfolio Director/Network Manager of the Oxfordshire Innovation and Growth Team, the IGT provided business support to high growth and innovative businesses in the area.
Placi’s role was to support local businesses that have potential to grow, supporting companies by giving them advise on business planning, raising funding, applying for grants, assistance with IP issues, access to a number of Market Research sources, etc.
Previously Placi was Network Manager for the Oxfordshire Enterprise Hub and managed a number of projects aimed at supporting early-stage businesses, some of them funded by the European Commission, MedPride, ETI, VIVA and Talent Scout, some others were funded at a regional level, for example, Fit For Funding, which was an Investment Readiness Project and other smaller projects funded at a local or county level as GIIN (Gloucestershire Internet Incubation Network).
Simon founded the company Webmart in 1996 based on a Marxist principle that the lion’s share of the profits should go to a company’s employees. It now turns over £37m and employs 43 people at offices in Barnsley, Bicester and East Kilbride.

Simon was recently voted the Institute of Director’s (IoD) Director of the Year in the small and medium category and runner up of the IoD Director of the Year.
Paul is an experienced business professional with over 16 years’ senior management experience with multinationals such as Mercedes Benz, handling annual turnover in excess of £100m. He has an Executive MBA and has delivered high level consultancy projects in the UK, Middle East and China.
During the last decade Paul has divided his time between academia and running his own companies.
His work in higher education is focused on Entrepreneurship in the context of new business development. He has provided lectures and workshops for Oxford, Warwick and Cambridge and a number of well-known universities in the UK, France, Qatar, China to name a few. His area of research has been in International Entrepreneurship.
Paul is based in central London and has built up an excellent network of business, media and political contacts over the last two decades and has been a senior adviser to the the Oxford Entrepreneurs since 2008.
